Differences from the movies[]
While the novelization retells the story of A Child of Fire and Chalice of Blood, Castro was also able to expand the lore in various ways not seen in the movies.

Kora's arrival on Veldt was depicted on pages 129-134. Not seen in the movies, her dropship crashed in the fields outside of Veldt as Hagen wandered the area. He would come out here where he scattered the ashes of his daughter, Liv when he felt the need to talk to her. Finding Kora unable to move, he headed back to the village for help, finding Gunnar along the way. Gunnar carried her on a uraki to Hagen's house. Sindri was wary about letting an outsider into the village, but Hagen and Gunnar agreed to take responsibility for her, so she was allowed to stay.

Cassius Falto was given a significant backstory dating back to his late childhood. Due to his parents' financial troubles, Cassius was given to the Motherworld to do as they pleased with him. They considered making a Scribe of him but eventually sent him to the Academy Militarium, where he met Atticus Noble. Being raised to be seen not heard, Cassius learned to take everything in and show nothing in return, which Noble appreciated as others tended to turn away from Noble's atrocities. This made Cassius the perfect fit as Noble's most trusted advisor.
